Lectors are special liturgical ministers whose principal duty is to serve the community by proclaiming the readings from Scripture during the liturgies such as the Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, Communal Penance Services, and at other liturgies and special occasions when readings from Scripture are included.

In the readings, the word of God is shared with the assembly.  A thoughtful and prayerful presentation by the lector helps open the hearts of the community so that the Holy Spirit may speak to each one present thereby enlightening, comforting or challenging them.

Who Can Serve
Any Confirmed adult or teen may participate in this ministry according to the established guidelines and after proper training.  Lectors serve at the regularly scheduled Sunday and weekday Masses as well as when called upon to serve for other special liturgies and events involving Scripture reading.
