A Message from Msgr. Antonio Introducng Fr. Jim Bevacqua
June 20, 2022
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As I prepare for my final Mass as your pastor here at St. Bede on Sunday, June 26, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your faithfulness, love, and support over these past 12 years. I will carry our memories together in my heart always.
I have been working closely with your new Pastor, Fr. Jim Bevacqua over this past month to facilitate this transition for him and for all of you. God always provides for us and I assure you that Fr. Jim is a man of God and is ready to embark on his new journey with the entire St. Bede community. I know he will continue to walk with you and guide you on the road to heaven. Fr. Jim asked that I share his message below.
I want to wish you all love and peace and I know that you will welcome him with open arms and open hearts.
Yours in Christ, Fr. Antonio
Hi, my name is Fr. Jim Bevacqua, and I am really excited about my new assignment at St. Bede! I am originally from Ohio among other places. I am a late vocation as I entered the seminary at the age of 38. I worked as a certified public accountant in New York City after graduating from college at THE Ohio State University. From there I had a number of careers before working at Touchstone Pictures in Burbank. My aspirations of becoming a movie producer waned when ironically, Hollywood drove me to the seminary.
So, I gave up my apartment in Santa Monica and moved to Camarillo to attend St. John’s Seminary (owned and operated by the Archdiocese of LA.)
I have been ordained now for 19 years and have served at Holy Trinity Church in San Pedro, St. Philip’s in Pasadena, and Holy Family in Glendale. I have served as pastor at Holy Family for 14 years. In my free time, I like to go out to eat, travel, workout at the gym, surf, ski, hike, read and see good movies. I am also a Lakers fan, and I try to eat healthy.
Thanks for welcoming me to St. Bede and I look forward to getting to know you and to serve you in the near future!
