Lisa Christine Thelen, soprano, was born and raised in Los Angeles. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from Loyola Marymount University, a Master’s degree in Vocal Arts from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Doctoral degree in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California. She is a past winner of the Burbank Philharmonic Hennings-Fischer Young Artists’ Competition and was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Western Regional Auditions. She has performed multiple times as the soprano soloist for the Holiday Organ Spectacular, with world renowned organist David Higgs, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. She performed the world-premiere of David Conte’s Christmas composition, “Mistletoe”, in 2014. Solo appearances in orchestral works include, Bach’s Cantata 51 and Magnificat, Faure’s Requiem, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Exultate, jubilate and Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Handel’s Messiah. Ms. Thelen has taught music at St. Bede the Venerable School since 2003, where she is also director of the children’s choir. She enjoys being an active part of the St. Bede Community with her husband, Michael and four children.
