Greetings to all families registered in the Faith Formation Program at St. Bede!
On behalf of Fr. Jim and the community of St Bede, we welcome you all to our Faith Formation year at St. Bede. We look forward to a wonderful year journeying with you, as we share our beautiful Catholic faith with your children. To ensure all children will receive a blessed and grace-filled year, it is important that we - the parents, catechists, and the Faith Formation leaders - all work together as a team. Parents are, first and foremost, the primary catechists of their children. It is from you that the children first learn their faith, love for God, and love for neighbor. Parents’ involvement in the Faith Formation Program is crucial in the growth and enrichment of your children’s faith. We ask that parents please make a sincere commitment to:- Attend Sunday Mass and on Holy Days of Obligation
- Actively participate in your children’s Faith Formation by:
- Sharing your own faith journey with them
- Praying with them at home
- Discussing with your children whatever will be covered in each session.
- Supporting your children to complete their homework or family projects.
- Receive yourselves the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation regularly (if there are impediments to your receiving the Sacraments, please meet with Sr. Annuncia, she may assist you in your desire to receive them.)
- Bring your children to Faith Formation on Sundays on time and prepared.
- Attend the meetings and workshops for parents and families, especially the Eucharistic Revival Year at St Bede.
For children in First Holy Communion Year 1 and Year 2:
- Ensure that your children attend the Faith Formation scheduled sessions with no more than 3 absences. In case of illness or family emergency please inform Sr. Annuncia at [email protected] or [email protected]
- Help your children to prepare themselves well for the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, including learning the required prayers, how to go Confession, and attending retreats.
Documents Required:
- A copy of the Birth Certificate and the Baptismal Certificate
- A copy of the First Holy Communion Certificate if your child already received the Sacrament of Eucharist and Reconciliation.
In Addition:
- A parent, guardian or authorized adult must sign their child in and out at the lobby of the school. Anyone under the age of 18 may not sign in place of a parent.
- It is MANDATORY that all adults helping in the Faith Formation Program MUST attend the 3-hour Virtus Protection God’s Children program, be fingerprinted through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and complete and sign a Volunteer Form.
